Today more and more people struggle with stress, fears, health issues, and more. The struggle is real!
Everybody seems to focus on trying to improve their physical and mental health, but what if I told you that that is only half of the equation? Maybe this focus is also why so many people struggle.
Because I love to learn and want to be at the top of my game to do the extreme expeditions I do, over the past five years I’ve spent a lot of time, money, and energy learning more about this topic.
What does it take to be in balance; to be able to live our lives to the fullest?
If you want to be the best version of yourself, you have to work on all the elements of the equation, not only half of them. The missing part of the equation is this:
Emotional and spiritual health
We have to work on all four health elements: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.
What do I mean by that?
Physical health – I believe you all know what I mean by this.
Mental health – This involves our thoughts and beliefs, which in many cases do not support us or what we are trying to achieve. To give you an example: many people do not think they are good enough, that they can manage to do a specific job, achieve a certain goal, or get the job of their dreams. Mental health is also about being mentally strong and resilient, e.g., able to handle difficult unforeseen situations, uncertainty, and loss.
Emotional health – oh boy, this is a big one! We all have them; emotions I mean. But most of us have never learned how to handle them well. In many cases, we were taught to hide them or not to talk about them. We were told, “Be brave,” “Don’t be angry,” “Don’t cry,” etc.
Did you know that most of us run on emotional patterns we learned as children, for instance, leave, or get angry when something difficult occurs? Wouldn’t it be amazing to learn how to handle your emotions in a good way?
Truth be told, you can be mentally strong yet emotionally fragile or imbalanced. Or vice versa.
Spiritual health– By spiritual, I do not mean religious or anything like that. I’m talking about your spirit/soul’s health. This is the part of you that makes your heart sing when you do something that you really love. I think you know what I mean. When was the last time you did something that made your spirit/heart sing? Something that filled you with joy? Unfortunately for many of us, life became too busy and we got too serious, so we stopped doing these things. Maybe you got too focused on building your career or your business.
I think it’s time to change that! It could be just a small thing – it often is. Go and do just one thing that makes you heart sing this next month and come back and tell me how it felt. What did it do for you inside?
I am 100% certain that it will do you the world of good. Taking time to do that one thing that makes your heart sing will make your whole life feel better. So what if you have to do it in your lunch break or get a babysitter to be able to do it? Trust me, it will be worth it.
